【摘要】:Theguideisdesignedtoassisttheforensicpaintexaminerinselectingandorganizingananalyticalschemeforidentifyingandcomparingpaintsandcoatings.Thesizeandconditionofthesample(s)willinfluencetheselectedanalyticalscheme.1.1Forensicpaintanalysesandcomparisonsaretypicallydistinguishedbysamplesizethatprecludestheapplicationofmanystandardindustrialpaintanalysisproceduresorprotocols.Theforensicpaintexaminermustaddressconcernssuchastheissuesofacaseorinvestigation,samplesize,complexityandcondition,environmentaleffects,andcollectionmethods.Thesefactorsrequirethattheforensicpaintexaminerchoosetestmethods,samplepreparationschemes,testsequence,anddegreeofsamplealterationandconsumptionthataresuitabletoeachspecificcase.1.2Thisguideisintendedasanintroductiontostandardguidesforforensicexaminationofpaintsandcoatings.Itisintendedtoassistindividualswhoconductforensicpaintanalysesintheirevaluation,selection,andapplicationofteststhatmaybeofvaluetotheirinvestigations.Thisguidedescribesmethodstodevelopdiscriminatoryinformationusinganefficientandreasonableorderoftesting.Theneedforvalidatedmethodsandqualityassuranceguidelinesisalsoaddressed.Thisdocumentisnotintendedasadetailedmethodsdescriptionorrigidschemefortheanalysisandcomparisonofpaints,butasaguidetothestrengthsandlimitationsofeachanalyticalmethod.Thegoalistoprovideaconsistentapproachtoforensicpaintanalysis.1.3Someofthemethodsdiscussedinthisguideinvolvetheuseofdangerouschemicals,temperatures,andradiationsources.Thisguidedoesnotpurporttoaddressthepossiblesafetyhazardsorprecautionsassociatedwithitsapplication.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatoryrequirementspriortouse.
